The Peruvian-American Business Chamber of Georgia (PABC) was created by the Peruvian-American Association of Georgia (PAAG) and established as a Committee of the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GHCC) to serve as a catalyst for Peruvian Free Trade between the State of Georgia and Peru.
The Peruvian-American Association of Georgia (PAAG) was officially founded on August 28, 2002 by seven members of the Peruvian community residing in Atlanta, Georgia with the only objective to achieve local official consular representation through the opening of a Consulate of Peru in the City of Atlanta. Since its inception the PAAG had been hard at work to achieve its goal seeking the support of local government, the international business community and the Latino community in Georgia.
The visit of Ambassador Eduardo Ferrero to the City of Atlanta on May 10, 2004 was pivotal to the PAAG. With the visit of Ambassador Ferrero and the help of the State of Georgia, the Peruvian government undoubtely recognized the needs of the growing Peruvian colony in the State of Georgia and stirred the approval of the opening of the Consulate Office in Atlanta on January of 2006.
The positive influence of the PAAG towards the accomplishment of this historic achievement was publicly recognized by the State of Georgia Governor, the Honorable Sony Perdue in a Proclamation made on February 10, 2006 and one month prior by the First Consul General of Peru in Atlanta, the Honorable Jorge Puente Luna during the swear-in Ceremony of the newly elected Peruvian-American Association of Georgia (PAAG) Board of Directors before the State Court Judge, the Honorable J. Antonio Del Campo (Peruvian) on January 5, 2006 at the Latin-American Association.
